Refund policy
1. GENERAL
Every Lennart's Garage artwork is built, finished, inspected and packed by hand.
Nothing in this policy limits any mandatory consumer right available under applicable law.
2. STANDARD CATALOGUE ARTWORKS
The right of withdrawal described in this section applies only where it is provided by applicable consumer law. For consumers in the European Union, this normally means a 14-day withdrawal period after delivery. Similar rights may apply in certain other countries.
Lennart’s Garage does not otherwise offer a general worldwide change-of-mind return right. Where no mandatory right of withdrawal applies, a cancellation or return is subject to written agreement with Lennart’s Garage.
Where applicable law gives a consumer a statutory right of withdrawal, an eligible standard catalogue order may be withdrawn without giving a reason.
For consumers in the European Union, the withdrawal period normally expires 14 days after the day on which you, or a third party designated by you, receive the artwork. Where an order is delivered in separate parts, the period begins when the final part is received.
You may also exercise an applicable right of withdrawal before delivery.
A standard catalogue artwork does not automatically become exempt from withdrawal merely because production begins after the order is placed.
3. HOW TO EXERCISE A RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL
Where a statutory right of withdrawal applies, you may exercise it by using the Cancel or Return an Order function available through this website or by sending a clear statement to:
Please include your name, order number, the artwork concerned and a clear statement that you wish to withdraw from the purchase.
You may also use the Model Withdrawal Form provided at the end of this policy, although use of that form is not required.
If you use the online withdrawal function, you will receive an electronic acknowledgement confirming the content of your request and the date and time it was submitted.
4. RETURNING AN ARTWORK AFTER WITHDRAWAL
After notifying Lennart's Garage of a withdrawal following delivery, the artwork must be returned without undue delay and no later than 14 days after the withdrawal notice.
Please contact me before arranging transport so that the return and suitable insured shipping can be discussed.
Returned artworks should be returned in their original custom-made wooden shipping case wherever reasonably possible, together with the certificate of authenticity and any other accompanying materials.
If the original case is no longer available, equally suitable protective packaging must be used so that the artwork can be transported safely.
The artwork must be returned using suitable tracked and insured transport.
5. RETURN TRANSPORT COSTS
For an eligible change-of-mind withdrawal, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning the artwork where permitted by law.
Because Lennart’s Garage artworks and their custom-made wooden shipping cases are substantial and cannot normally be returned by ordinary post, insured return transport can be significant.
The estimated maximum cost of insured return transport within the European Union is €400 per artwork when suitable protective packaging is used.
You may arrange suitable tracked and insured return transport yourself. Alternatively, you are welcome to contact me and I can assist with arranging an insured UPS return. In either case, only the direct cost of return transport is payable. No restocking or administrative fee is charged.
Please contact me before arranging the return so that the safest transport method can be discussed.
Where the return is required because the artwork is damaged, defective, incorrect or otherwise non-conforming and Lennart’s Garage is responsible, reasonable return transport costs will be borne by Lennart’s Garage.
6. CONDITION OF RETURNED ARTWORKS
You may inspect an artwork to the extent reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and condition, as you would normally be able to do in a physical shop.
You may be responsible for any diminished value resulting from handling beyond what is reasonably necessary for that purpose.
Natural variation in reclaimed wood, including differences in grain, markings, patina, texture and weathering, is part of the handmade character of the artwork and is not by itself a defect.
7. PERSONALISED AND CUSTOM SHOP ORDERS
The statutory right of withdrawal may not apply to an artwork that is made to your individual specifications or clearly personalised for you.
This may include an artwork created around your own car, garage, emblem, business identity, requested dimensions, inscription, individual design requirements or another genuinely bespoke request.
Where this exception applies, this will be made clear before the order is placed or the commission is accepted.
This exception does not affect your rights if the delivered artwork is damaged, defective, incorrect or does not conform to the agreed specifications.
8. CANCELLATIONS WHERE NO STATUTORY WITHDRAWAL RIGHT APPLIES
Where no mandatory right of withdrawal applies, including many business-to-business purchases and eligible personalised commissions, cancellation is subject to written agreement with Lennart's Garage.
If a voluntary cancellation is accepted after work has begun, reasonable non-recoverable costs already incurred may be taken into account to the extent permitted by law.
9. DAMAGED, DEFECTIVE OR INCORRECT DELIVERIES
Please inspect the artwork and its shipping case promptly after delivery.
If the artwork arrives damaged, defective or different from what was ordered, please contact:
as soon as reasonably possible.
Reporting visible transport damage within three days is strongly requested because it assists with courier and insurance claims. Failure to report within that period does not remove or reduce any mandatory legal right.
Please retain:
- the artwork
- the custom-made shipping case
- all internal packaging
- the shipping label
- photographs of the case, packaging and affected area
Do not return a damaged or incorrect artwork before receiving instructions.
Depending on the circumstances and your legal rights, an appropriate remedy may include repair, replacement, a price reduction or a refund.
10. REFUNDS
Where a statutory right of withdrawal is validly exercised, Lennart's Garage will refund the amount paid for the eligible returned artwork, subject only to any deduction permitted by law for diminished value resulting from handling beyond what is reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and condition.
The refund will be made without undue delay and no later than 14 days after Lennart's Garage receives the withdrawal notice.
Lennart's Garage may withhold the refund until the returned artwork has been received or satisfactory evidence that it has been returned has been provided.
Refunds will normally be made using the original payment method unless another method is expressly agreed.
Where an order was purchased as a gift, any refund will normally be issued to the original payer.
No restocking fee is charged where a mandatory statutory right of withdrawal applies.
11. TWO-YEAR WORKMANSHIP WARRANTY
In addition to all mandatory statutory rights, Lennart's Garage provides a two-year workmanship warranty beginning on the date of delivery.
This additional warranty covers verified defects attributable to the materials, construction, finish or workmanship of the artwork under normal indoor display conditions.
It does not cover:
- natural variations inherent in reclaimed wood and handmade work
- normal ageing, patina or expected wear
- incorrect installation or unsuitable wall fixings
- accidental damage, impact or misuse
- exposure to moisture, excessive heat, prolonged direct sunlight or unsuitable environmental conditions
- inappropriate cleaning products or methods
- alterations or repairs performed by another party
This warranty is additional to your statutory rights. It does not replace, restrict or shorten any legal guarantee or conformity right.
